Injustice to All

12 Jul

New letter to my senators and rep–just a short one:

Dear Senator,

It is absolutely necessary that Brad Kavanaugh doesn’t become a Supreme Court Injustice. He is against women (especially our reproductive rights such as contraceptives and abortion), against people of color, against poor people, and against LGBTQIA people. Like all of Donald Dump’s unqualified and unconscionable picks, he is against justice.

Abolish ICE

14 Jun

My letter to the governor of the state where I live:

Dear Governor,

Refugee children must be reunited with their families and have access to pro-bono.

These children are undoubtedly already traumatized before they even reach the border into the country formerly known as the United States. When they reach the border, either their parents aren’t with them, or ICE (the Gestapo) border patrol force them to part with their parents. Children are in concentration camps in Texas. This treatment—being taken from their parents and locked up and not knowing where their parents are—will ensure that these children are traumatized for life.

The Dump administration is practicing gross abuse of human rights; the UN has declared this treatment of immigrants inhumane. People come to this country in search of asylum because life back home has become unendurable…and when they get here, they’re treated like criminals. This is unconscionable. This country is unworthy of the Statue of Liberty.

ICE is now right here in Oregon, and they have every intention of locking up immigrant parents in the Sheridan Detention Center. You have the power to refuse to allow this to happen.

Department of Injustice

10 Jun

I just mailed this off:

Dear Department of Injustice,

You need to resume being the Department of Justice…assuming you ever did represent justice which, wait, you haven’t, since this has always been an overtly racist and misogynistic country that makes life a lot harder for poor people and people of color. But I digress.

Children are not blackmail tools for detention. Children aren’t criminals and don’t belong in cages. The country formerly known as the United States is violating human rights to an extent that it hasn’t done since Japanese Americans were sent off to internment camps.

More Dumplandia Bigotry

21 Sep

The overtly homophobic and transphobic Dump Administration is arguing at the Supreme Court that homophobic businesses should be allowed to deny service to LGBTQA people. Of course, if this were to pass and the bigot-businesses were open about their prejudice, then I for one would have no intention of being their customer.

Susan Warren wishes to pass the Equality Act, the polar opposite of what Dump and his minions are trying to do.

Homophobes are intimidated by people whose lifestyle is different from theirs, just as racists are intimidated by the same thing plus people who are a different skin tone than they are. So this really isn’t surprising. And we can’t forget that the Nazis targeted not only Jews but also homosexuals, Romany, and prostitutes.

Apparently, homophobes are so behind the times that they still say “gays” instead of “queer or genderqueer people” or “homosexuals, bisexuals, omnisexuals.” Of course, just the fact that they’re homophobes indicates that they’re out of touch with the times and with reality. And I don’t seriously expect them to embrace the terminology associated with queer studies; I suppose expecting them to say “queer rights” makes as much sense as expecting them to say “intersectionality” or “gender equality” in a respectful manner. There’s something weird and creepy about humanoids who are so arrogant, closed-minded, and bigoted that they’re against people who are not heterosexual and/or follow gender binary and probably don’t even think they have any right to exist or to be themselves.

But enough blogging; I need to write to my senators.

Latest Letters to Senators

19 Sep

Some days I write two or three letters to my senators and representative, first composing them in MS Word and then handwriting them in triplicate. So many issues.

Dear Senator,

Interior Secretary Zinke and Donald Dump wish to shrink the national parks, including in Oregon. That is so extremely not okay. This is desecration and, as usual, greed and sociopathy on their parts.

Dear Senator,

Donald Dump and his minions are attempting to pass Dumpcare, a.k.a. Uncare, a.k.a. Wealthcare again. We must keep fighting these attempts to take away our healthcare and Planned Parenthood, until Dump is no longer squatting in the White House. We need to protect Planned Parenthood and the ACA from this overtly misogynistic and classist narcissistic sociopath. Oh, yeah, and a neo-Nazi. Bernie Sanders has the right idea: we need universal healthcare—the real thing.

DACA

6 Sep

I seem to be posted a lot of political stuff lately. Here is the body of another letter to my senators and representative:

Ending DACA is a disastrous plan on so many levels. DACA beneficiaries contribute to this country as doctors and lawyers and college students, among other roles. They have lived in the United States, with their families, for most of their lives, and this is their home. I’ve been reading some of their stories online, and it makes no sense to willfully tear them from their lives.

By deporting them, Donald Dump and Jeff Sessions are telling the world that they are xenophobic and racist. Oh, yeah, Dump has already done that, in part by showing that he’s a Nazi sympathizer.

By deporting DACA beneficiaries, the US will lose $400 billion of its GDP. While Donald Dump and Jeff Sessions are obviously heartless monsters, Dump, at least, is a greedy and crass businessman who cares about the economy, if nothing else. Apparently his racism and xenophobia outrank even his obsession with making money. Oh, yeah, he doesn’t actually care about this nation’s economy, just his own bank accounts. The US economy doesn’t matter to him, as long as he and other billionaires remain insanely wealthy and get tax cuts.

This sociopath is gleefully ruining the lives of all DACA beneficiaries, and this gross injustice must be stopped.
